About Fresh Taste Kitchen
Free, practical kitchen calculators for home cooks and bakers, with the sources and assumptions shown.
Who We Serve
Fresh Taste Kitchen started with a simple frustration. Search “how many grams in a cup” and you get a dozen different answers, because the honest answer is another question: a cup of what?
A cup of all-purpose flour weighs about 120 grams, a cup of sugar about 200, and a cup of honey about 340. Use one number for all three and your cake comes out wrong. So we built tools that know the difference, and explain themselves as they go.
Who Runs This Site
Fresh Taste Kitchen is an independent website. We aren't sponsored by any food brand, and every number on the site shows where it comes from, so you can check it yourself.

How We Select Measurement & Nutrition Data
You should be able to check where a number comes from. These are our sources:
- Measurements: US and metric unit definitions from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
- Nutrition and ingredient weights: USDA FoodData Central, cross-checked against test-kitchen weight charts such as King Arthur Baking's. A few items, like protein powder, use typical label values, and we say so.
- Food safety: USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) cooking temperatures, FoodSafety.gov storage charts, the FDA Food Code for cooling, and the National Center for Home Food Preservation for canning.
Transparency Around Limitations
Every calculator is an estimate of something that happens in a real kitchen, so here's where they fall short:
- Cups and grams: How you fill a cup, the brand, and even the weather can shift a cup's weight by 5-15%. For baking, a digital scale beats any converter.
- Nutrition: Figures are averages. Real food varies, and cooking changes things, so treat results as good estimates, not lab results or medical advice.
